There will be small CMOS battery inside the board. It will be like the size of quarter. It will be on the motherboard and sometimes it does not work like it should.
Why do I need CMOS battery?
While most people focus on the hardware when it comes to Apple products, it is important to remember that the software is just as important. With that in mind, today we are going to be looking at the CMOS battery in the iMac and how to replace it.
The CMOS battery is responsible for keeping track of the time and date in your computer, and it is located on the logic board. If you notice that the time and date are resetting frequently, or if your computer is having trouble starting up, then it is probably time to replace the battery.
How do I replace the CMOS battery?
Replacing the battery is a pretty simple process, but there are a few things you need to know before you get started. First, you need to shut down your computer and unplug all the cables. Then, you need to remove the back panel so you can access the logic board. Be careful when removing the back panel, as there are a lot of delicate components inside your iMac.
Once you have access to the logic board, you will see the CMOS battery near the bottom. It is a small, cylindrical battery, and it is usually held in place with a piece of tape. Gently remove the battery and replace it with a new one.

That’s all there is to it! Once you have replaced the battery, you can put your iMac back together and it should be good as new.
